So we have come to the end of the year and I have found myself reflecting on the top books of 2017. There have been some fantastic books released this year. There seem to be every year and due entirely to the amazing talent of authors. How do they do it? Maybe it's magic. Read on for my favourite reads of 2017...
My take on the top books of 2017:
You will no doubt have heard of many of my top reads of 2017 and as a result they will appear in many other people’s top 2017 lists. The amazing La Belle Sauvage: The Book of Dust Vol one by Philip Pullman for example. This was the Waterstones’ Book of the Year and one of my personal highlights. I also loved Did You See Melody? By Sophie Hannah which made The Guardian newspaper’s best crime novels of 2017 list and was included in my November 2017 book box. However, you don’t need me to tell you how good these top books are, so I thought I would run down my favourite reads of the year that you may not come across elsewhere. I tried to narrow it down to ten and failed, so there are eleven in my list! I would love to know if you have read any of them and what you thought.
So without further ado here is my list in alphabetical order by author surname:

Looking back on my year in books, it appears I was more in the mood for light and cosy mysteries and I have tended towards crime thrillers in the latter part of the year. There are three further books that I would definitely add to this list but they will be in my February book boxes so I haven’t included them so as not to spoil the surprise!
I hope you enjoyed my alternative list of the top books of 2017, let me know what your favourite reads were, do you have any recommendations for me?
