Monthly Crime Book Box – March 2020

Our crime book of the month for March is The Guest List by Lucy Foley!

I am very excited for this first edition of The Guest List by Lucy Foley. Lucy began as an author of historical fiction and turned her hand to crime thrillers more recently, she wanted to read a modern murder mystery and decided to write one. Lucy was drawn to the neatness of a murder mystery with all the threads tied up at the end.

March 2020 monthly crime book box theme

The theme ‘An Invitation to Die For’ references that this murder mystery occurs at a wedding.

The theme for our next monthly box is 'Secrets in the Swedish Forest...'

March 2020 The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Lucy's first crime thriller The Hunting Party was published in 2019 and was a Sunday Times bestseller. The Guest List is her second crime thriller, it draws inspiration from classic crime but is thoroughly modern. I love the isolation the setting gives and the fantastic cast of potential suspects.

I've taken my inspiration from weddings and springtime for this box's goodies

March 2020 - crime book subscription box

There are some amazing ideas for weddings and stationery and I wanted to create something a little different that tied in directly to the book. I was inspired by a wooden invitation I received recently and commissioned Robin and Sue from Cam Graphic to create this fictional wooden invitation in the box.

Robin and Sue absolutely LOVE trees and wood and create a range of lovely bespoke wooden items. They are committed to only using materials from sustainable and responsibly harvested sources and we share their environmental concerns and commitment.

It’s a great decorative piece, it looks great on my bookshelf and I’ve used mine as a bookmark and paper weight too!

March 2020 - Burgon & Ball dip pot mini planter 2

For me March means springtime and flowers and I am thrilled to be able to bring you this lovely mini planter for miniature blooms and succulents. Burgon & Ball are part of Sheffield’s history manufacturing and trading in the city since 1730 and are known for their high quality. I love to use local suppliers and when thinking of planters Burgon and Ball were my first thought.

Following the plant theme, the stunning plant bookmark showcases botanicals that are poisonous and thus potential murder weapons. Beautiful but deadly!
