Monthly crime book box – November 2019

Our crime book of the month for November is The Lying Room by Nicci French!

Nicci French is a pseudonym for husband and wife crime writing duo Nicci Gerard and Sean French. Nicci and Sean have been writing bestselling novels together for 25 years and after a decade of writing the Frieda Klein series this is their first standalone novel in many years.

November crime & mystery theme

We gave this box the theme 'Cheating. Lying. Murder?' and used this graphic which is from the end papers of the novel.

The theme for our next monthly box is 'Disgraced & Disgraceful?'

Nicci Gerard and Sean French were delighted to be our featured November monthly author and have signed our first edition copies. They have also written an exclusive piece for us in which they tell us 5 things they feel their readers should know about them.

We complemented The Lying Room with goodies with something of a pampering theme to them, so that when readers finally manage to put this tense and intimate domestic thriller down they had something to help them relax.

The liquid hand soap was hand-made exclusively for My Chronicle by artisan cosmetics creator Caz at Lovely Skincare. Inspired by the writing partnership of Nicci and Sean, Caz has paired Pink Grapefruit with Neroli for the scent and given it a Partners in Crime theme.

You can indulge in a relaxing bath scented with a lavender and fennel seed ‘A Touch of Froth’ bath souffle made with Shea Butter and purifying sea salts to soften the skin. These were made in Sheffield local to My Chronicle HQ, are cruelty free and suitable for vegans.

If you remove the dust cover to reveal the naked book, you will find a key decorating the cover which gave me the idea of including the lovely decorative key. I love items that are not only decorative but functional and this key is also a very useful bottle opener. Ideal for opening tonic bottles to add to your gin.

The gorgeous A5 print was designed by retired screen printer and graphic designer Gary who has just launched a shop on Etsy (HappyIfItRains) sharing his stunning artwork. This image is from a larger scale screen print Gary created and printed by hand and has been printed in high quality on specialist recycled archival card.
